Re: [gatortalk] Re: [gatornews] [SUN]: Muschamp sticking with Driskel

So are we willing to trade a national championship for last year's debacle and whatever lies ahead?

Maybe having Tebow would have set Bama back when he left like it did us.  We blame Urbie-- what if it is the lack of Tebow?  The lack of goodness,  wholesomeness, or, dare I say it, prayer?

Yes, playing Devils advocate, but throwing it out there for consideration.

And if he were still at UF or came back Tebow wouldnt have been a Gator and would have a elephant on his chest.

The South Carolina coach would not only change QBs, he would probably tell the media first!  Didn't he famously sit Connor Shaw down several times?  And rake Shaw over the coals in the media?  You come to play QB at SoCar, you better get out there and do it.

We need a coach like that.

While I pretty much agree that Driskell does not seem to have the confidence to lead the offense right now.  If I were the HC I wonder if I would tell a sole save Roper if I had decided to make a change before I absolutely had to.  I certainly would not want the media having two weeks to ramp up the pressure on Harris.   I'd be business as usual, Driskel is the man, rah rah rah rah rah.  Not going to happen, but I wonder how, if and when it does happen, how WM will go about it.

This is so true. In a way, yes, the O stunk, but that's not the end of what I saw in the Alabama game. I saw an aggressive game plan that should have been competitive. I saw an offensive line that gave the QB time to throw. I saw receivers open all day. I saw one receiver (Dunbar) who couldn't hold onto the ball for the second game in a row. I wouldn't give up on him yet, but I might look elsewhere on 3rd downs. I saw another receiver (Robinson) who got almost no looks.

Most importantly, I saw a QB who had no command of his offense. He often didn't see his open receivers, and he mostly threw the ball very poorly to the receivers he did target. I don't care how good Driskel looks in practice... if he can't do it at game time, then you have to move on.

There are lots of freshman QBs playing great this year, and I don't buy for a minute that a freshman can't perform at this level. Coach is crazy if he doesn't involve Harris early in the UT game. Harris doesn't have to start, but we should give him the second quarter or give him every third series or whatever. It's just stupid for CWM to keep saying Harris doesn't have enough experience and then for him not to give the kid any experience. Give him meaningful snaps every game and he will probably be starting by the end of the year. That might save Muschamp's job. Sticking with Driskel will probably bring the CWM era to a close.

Of course, I may be wrong. Driskel may just flip a mental switch next week and turn into a Heisman candidate, then go on to trounce LSU, USC and UGA and... ... ...oh, wait, I drifted off to sleep for a moment there, but it was a nice dream.

When we discuss what cost Muschamp his job at the end of the year, remember this article.

Second place will go to sticking with Durkin. Who knew at the time that the best hire by Muschamp was Dan Quinn, not Charlie Weis?
