It bothers me when a writer does something like this: "Chiozza, with 956 points, is three points behind Walk (959 points)."
(Just a made up sentence to make my point). I've seen several writers do this since Chiozza has been closing in on the assists record.

I was disappointed in the lack of sportsmanship that showed as well as just throwing away good money. It a minimum they could have gone to the dollar store and got some fake money!

JACKSONVILLE — Dan Mullen stood in a luxury box at EverBank Field, just a few feet from a window that looked down on the playing surface where he will clash with the University of Georgia in 244 days for the first time as the University of Florida head football coach.
He didn't make predictions but he knows what he wants from his team.
"We expect to win in Florida, in The Swamp or whether we're here … any location in the state," Mullen said Monday before addressing more than 600 members of the Jacksonville Gator Booster Club on the second leg of his statewide tour. "We are THE University of Florida."
Mullen's team is about to wrap up the most physical offseason conditioning program current players have ever experienced — and they've told him so.
"They said they've never been through anything like it," he said.
They're three weeks away from opening spring practice and seven weeks from the spring game April 14, where many questions he got from fans will be answered.
The others will remain open-ended until UF begins the season Sept. 1 against Charleston Southern.
But Mullen did make one guarantee.
"We will give a relentless effort in everything we do," he said. "The team that plays with that passion, energy and effort winds up being a very entertaining team."
Mullen spoke and then answered questions from fans for one hour and 20 minutes. Every topic from beating Georgia to who will play quarterback to what kind of athletic shoes Mullen likes to wear was covered.
He gave the fans one message at the outset:
"We're in this together," he said.
Mullen hasn't had much of a chance to hit the pause button since he was hired to return to Florida last November after nine years as the most successful coach in Mississippi State history. Before that he was the offensive coordinator for the Gators for two SEC championships and two national championships, with Chris Leak and Tim Tebow at quarterback.
There's no Tebow on the roster. The Gators will pick from either an existing quarterback, or pull one from a recruiting class ranked 14th by 247Sports. But Mullen said returning starter Feleipe Franks, who was benched three times during the 4-7 2017 season, is buying what Mullen is selling.
"He's had a great attitude," Mullen said. "What I look for is a guy who's going to compete and set a standard very high for everybody. You have to be a leader. People are going to look to you as the quarterback to be a leader. I explained that to him before our first workout and he tries to be first in everything he's doing."
Mullen also said the other returning players have followed suit.
"We'll see after spring but I think there's certainly guys buying in and working hard with the offseason program," he said. "We have quarterbacks who look the part, who can throw, running backs who look physical on film but we want to see how they perform with the ball in their hands. We'll know a lot after spring but we're certainly going to make them work hard."

Parking on campus was ridiculous this weekend. Probably 3/4 as many cars as on a home football day, but 1/10th the law enforcement and parking attendants. We had Phillips Center tickets Friday night, received an email Thursday warning that there might be no parking near Phillips/Museums due to softball. We arrived at Entomology at 4:55 in a single car and waited for an employee to leave. (We also had preshow dinner at Phillips.)
The show was Pilobolus, and before the show it was announced that there would be a post-show Q&A. Probably 2/3s of the people left at the end of the show. And then the 10 minute Florida/Gainesville/ UF specific show started. They formed Lake Alice, Bats, Gators in the water, then of course a Chomp line, then spelled GVille with their bodies! Then the Q&A. Fabulous! Our 3rd time seeing Pilobolus.

Its not one thing in particular and I admit some of it is coming from what I have learned "not to do" in my classes. So I guess I am being a bit snobbish. I was never a big fan of his before I went back to school. I just don't think I should have to re-read a sentence 3 times to figure out what he's saying. This sentence is also a biiggggg no-no (supposedly). In fact.. i got 5 points deducted from something I wrote because I did something similar. When I asked why not to do it... he said because it makes it difficult to read and isn't necessary. This sentence is actually terrible for several reasons.

It's pretty unusual for a coach to give up a coordinator's job at one school to become a position coach at another. But in the case of Brian Johnson, it made perfect sense.
Going from offensive coordinator at Houston to quarterbacks coach at Florida has given Johnson a chance to reunite with Dan Mullen and others on the coaching staff and an opportunity to coach at a school with a rich quarterback tradition.
"It's a chance to be at a place like the University of Florida and be around people I've worked with for a number of years," Johnson said Thursday. "What we have on the offensive staff, I've known all of those guys for an extremely long time. We've worked together and had a ton of success throughout the course of the years both when I was a player and as a coach. There was a certain comfort level for me. Being around all those guys and them being around me. It seemed like a good fit and a very natural fit."
Johnson, Mullen and co-offensive coordinators John Hevesy and Billy Gonzales go way back. Mullen, Hevesy and Gonzales were on Urban Meyer's Utah staff, and Mullen first started recruiting Johnson when Johnson was only 16 years old.
Johnson ended up signing with the Utes and played for Mullen for one year before Meyer took the Florida job after the 2004 season and brought most of his staff with him to Gainesville.
When Mullen contacted Johnson last December about possibly becoming the Gators' quarterback coach, he quickly accepted.
"Coach Mullen and I have always had a great relationship, obviously. I've known him since I was 16 years old," Johnson said. "We constantly kept the communication. When I had the opportunity to come here, I was really excited. I am excited to be here. It's a great program and great tradition, a very, very rich history."
Florida's recent quarterback history, of course, is anything but rich. Ever since Tim Tebow left after the 2009 season (one year after Mullen left to become the head coach at Mississippi State), the Gators have been hamstrung by inconsistent and unproductive quarterback play.
Johnson has been assigned to correct that. And he will receive assistance from three offensive coaches he knows very well in an offensive system that he knows very well.
"It's huge," Johnson said. "Just the familiarity that we have with the staff where we can use it as recall in game planning. You just take a look at the timeline of how long guys have been together. They've pretty much had every football conversation. It's usually not anything that comes up that we hadn't seen or discussed generally as an offensive staff. That's huge just in terms of how we work together, how we present information and how we teach to our guys."
When Mullen and Johnson were together at Utah, Johnson was one of only two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster. The other was Alex Smith, who has gone on to have an outstanding NFL career.
Smith is one of the multiple successful quarterbacks Mullen has helped develop over the years.
Johnson said he was a sponge when he was in the meeting room with Mullen and Smith for that one year in Utah.
"He was great to play for," Johnson said of Mullen. "I learned a lot from both of those guys in the short time that we were together. And some of those lessons and those conversations that went way beyond football is stuff that I still carry with me today. So, definitely, one of the best teachers that I've been around.
"I think one of the best things about Coach Mullen's resume is the fact that he's coached guys that have all looked very, very different and had different skill sets and gotten a ton of production out of them. That is what you're looking for."
Johnson will work with quarterbacks who have distinctly different skills set.
Feleipe Franks, last year's starter, is a pocket passer who is also fast enough and athletic enough to make some plays with his feet.
Kyle Trask and Jake Allen are mostly pocket passers.
True freshmen Emory Jones is a dual-threat quarterback who made dynamic plays with his arm and his legs in high school.
Johnson said all the quarterbacks will start out even in the spring and all will have a shot at winning the job.
"We have some talent in the room," he said. "Feleipe has played some. When I first got here I turned on all the game film and turned on some film from spring before Kyle got hurt to see what he could do. And, obviously, recruiting Emory.
"I think those guys are all talented in their own way and they all kind of have a different skill set. What we have to do as an offensive staff is to find out a way to put our guys in a position to be successful."
Johnson said he's impressed with some of the things Franks flashed last season. He also said he thinks Jones has the IT factor, but he and the coaches won't know for sure until the pads come on in the spring.
"The biggest thing that I see (in Franks) is the ability," Johnson said. "He made plays when he had opportunities to make plays. You can see the talent. He has some tools that we definitely can work with and get the best out of him.
"We definitely would like to think (Jones has the IT factor). We're excited about him. I know he's excited to get out there on the field and show what he can do and get ready to go."
