Now, I want to like McElwain, I really do. But, could someone tell me why we couldn't come up with enough money to lure Gary Patterson away from Fort Worth?

Yeah, that clinches it for me! Suddenly, I like this hire. It would be nice to keep him and TRob recruiting down there, but I think the recruiting coordinator title for Shannon tells us that TRob has made his decision. If anyone should have great relationships with HS coaches down there, it should be Shannon.

The Shannon hire is a home run, no question about it. He did come out clean in all the Miami mess as he was trying to clean up that cesspool. The problem was, while he was telling everyone not to interact with certain people, it was so ingrained in the culture they kept on keeping on.

He is undoubtedly a great defensive coach and will more than make up for the loss of TRob recruiting in South Florida. And as an added bonus, think how,mad you are, now think how pissed. The scUM fans are!

I don't expect them to be alumni, I expect them not to slander our school and hometown. Why is this so hard to understand? That is besides being the HBC at an out-of-control program, we fired Aubrey Hill and Joker Phillips for less than what Shannon was involved with. It makes so sense from that aspect.

This is the part that people have to get past. We are not hiring alumni. This is a business and Randy Shannon will be loyal to whomever is paying his salary. Period. The same stuff was said about Muschamp and Meyer. Neither were alumni. Most schools do not have alumnus coaching their schools. We had a special one with Spurrier. It may be a long time before such a relationship happens again.

I will feel very, very dirty. I agree he looks good on paper, and I'm sure Mac isn't aware of how he's trashed both Gainesville and UF, but it's Foley' job to nix this kind of hire. I'm sure Shannon will bring in some S FL recruits as well, I'm just not sure I trust him in such an important position as recruiting coordinator and it's going to take a lot of Fireball to overcome the blasphemy of Randy Shannon wearing orange and blue. Apparently, the football gods hate me, so bet the house on FSU. ;-(
