Re: [gatortalk] We got ourselves a QB!

Clarabelle is looking pretty good right now. I wonder if she's available for the SECCG!  :-)  Seriously, thanks for the perspective. It doesn't sound so flaky when you explain it that way. Perhaps Del Rio will be our salvation next year. We sure need another option than Treon. I really appreciate that he's doing his best, but as you say, he's just not an SEC QB.

At the end of his first year Nuss left to go to Michigan and he transferred to OREGON State under MIke Riley.  He's there for a year and Riley leaves to go to Nebraska and they hire a spray option coach.  DelRio is a drop back guy so doesn't see a good fit.

In the meantime, Jeremy woke up from a three year slumber and canned the evil dawg coach.  Hires Coach Mac and Nuss, Del Rio starts singing " reunited and it feels so good".

Normally I would look at a guy with this many moves as a negative, but in this case it all makes sense.  If this was an assistant coach moving every year, no questions asked. But since it is a player, there must be something wrong with him.

I just know that Treon can not start next year, he is not an SEC caliber QB.  Whatever happened to Clarabelle?

RE: [gatortalk] We got ourselves a QB!

1) Grier used his redshirt last year, so he has to sit out until his year is up.

2) I had heard that he would be immediately be available if he went down in division, but that seems to be a bit of a stretch.  You can do all the PED's you want if you are at any level other than the top, does the NCAA not regulate those other divisions as well?

3) I do not think we will ever see Will Grier in a UF uniform again.

While I do not think Harris is the answer at QB he is still going to be hard to unseat as the returning starter, plus if any of the other QB's pass Harris as the starter unless the season is an unmitigated disaster, they will be just as difficult to unseat.  It is easy to say you would replace Harris or Del Rio, or Franks if all have played and we are 1 - 5, but what if we are 5 - 1 with Del Rio at quarterback.  You are gonna replace him with Greer (a player who has not seen game action in over a year) because he beat out Harris (not exactly the second coming of Joe Montana, closer to the second coming of Rodney Brewer) over a year ago and then played a half dozen games where he appeared as if he might be the quarterback of the future.  I just do not see Coach Mac pulling that trigger.  So IMHO, if Greer wants to sat around he first best chance to beat any of the existing QB's would be for the fall of 2017, against an incumbent QB  and I do not think Greer will wait that long for a maybe.  More likely than not I think he asks for his release, finds a school where the QBs on the roster couldn't beat out Trevon Harris for QB of a pee wee team, wait until his year is up, become the instant starter with 2 year left to play.  Hope I am wrong, but he brought it all upon himself.

There are some on Gator Country that claim to have heard that had Luke Del Rio been eligible to play this year he would have been our starter from day 1. I obviously can't vouch for the veracity of said claims, but in these dark days it's a comforting thought to hold on to versus the prospect of more Treon or any true freshman running the show.

Re: [gatortalk] We got ourselves a QB!

I'm just speaking for myself but while not writing him off I just have a feeling he won't be back as there is a lot of baggage imo. Guessing it will be one of those "mutual" decisions.

We're "writing him off" because, unless something changes, he's ineligible to play for us until game 7 next year.

IIRC, the name of the attorney he suggested the use is "Keller". Doesn't mean anything to me, but might to you legal eagles.

This makes more sense; that or Tom Brady's attorney.

I still have no idea how he pulled that off.
