Florida's much-anticipated quarterback competition this spring apparently will not include last year's starter, junior Treon Harris.
Harris, who struggled in coach Jim McElwain's pro-style offense last fall, is moving to wide receiver this spring, according to several reports.
Harris could not be reached for comment. UF spokesman Steve McClain said the team has not announced any position changes.
The Sun learned Harris did work briefly with the wide receivers during a players-only workout a few weeks ago, but that he has not participated in recent practices.
Harris took over as the starting quarterback the second half of last season after redshirt freshman Will Grier was suspended for a calendar year for testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug banned by the NCAA.
Harris struggled in the passing game, completing only 50.6 percent of his passes for the season for 1,676 yards and nine touchdowns.
With Harris apparently moving to receiver, the quarterback competition this spring will be between Oregon State transfer Luke Del Rio, graduate transfer Austin Appleby and true freshmen Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask.
