Re: [gatortalk] Re: [gatornews] [SUN]: Dooley: Unacceptable outcome

Br. John,

You may be right about Driskel.  He may now be ruined beyond redemption.  There is little doubt about his confidence.  We should remember, however, that he has the physical skills to be successful.  I have questioned his mental skills but I believe those are a product of poor coaching.  I don’t necessarily blame Roper for that either.  As I mentioned yesterday during the game, none of the coaches came up to him after the turnovers.  They did not encourage him, nor did they yell at him.  In either case, the coach would have shown Driskel that he cared.

I suspect that Driskel will transfer at the end of the season AND I think it may be a good thing for him.  I am sure he feels like he is the cause of all of the Gator’s problems.

Jerry

If Driskel ever takes another snap, unless Treon is hurt, then the decision should be much easier.

I'm sure Foley wishes he knew what the best plan is.  Nobody knows.  There are upsides and downsides to throwing WM overboard now, or doing it at the end of the season.

Nobody knows what the best choice is.  Foley is undoubtedly talking to lots of people, and hell, consulting his Ouija Board.  If he were to fire WM today, I would understand.  Wait till the end of the season, I understand that as well.

As fans, all we can do is try to stay as optimistic as we can, and have faith in Foley.  This is certainly a terrible situation to be in.  Foley's staying with WM just like WM is staying with Driskel.  But Driskel has clearly lost every shred of confidence in himself.  He's just a uniform out there, there's nobody in it anymore.  If we're gonna stink up the joint, and suck so badly, then let the freshman play the whole game.  At least he'll be getting game experience for the next few years.

What a mess.

John
