[gatortalk] Fwd: [gatornews] Atlanta Business Chronicle.com: Report: SEC to announce TV network in April

Right now I am switching channels between Gator softball and Gator baseball. Waiting for Gator basketball to tip off in the SEC tournament. And, I'm in Nashville.
We've come a long way since my youth listening to Otis Boggs call a Gator football game on the radio.
This SEC channel looks like it will make UF even more accessible.
It's Great...
To Be...

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive has said the SEC's goal is to be the most
widely distributed athletic conference.

Staff Atlanta Business Chronicle

Attention Jawjuh Leghumber fans: The Southeastern Conference will make
an announcement about its plans for the long-rumored SEC Network in
April.

Mike Slive, commissioner of the Birmingham, Ala.-based conference,
told Yahoo! Sports that the league will make a formal announcement
about the network in mid-April.

Our sister publication, Sports Business Journal, previously reported
the league was in the final stages of negotiations to create the
network – with plans for a launch in August 2014.

SBJ reported that the headquarters of the league would likely be in
Charlotte, N.C., where ESPN Regional Television is based because it
has the necessary infrastructure in place.

When Slive spoke at a 2012 Business Summit sponsored by sister
publication Birmingham Business Journal, he said the SEC's goal was to
be the most widely distributed conference in the nation – and noted
the league was in discussion with several television partners about
achieving that goal.

If it launches a dedicated cable channel, the SEC would join the Big
Ten and Pac-12 as conferences with their own channel.
