RE: [gatortalk] recruiting??

In spite of Tallahassee talk radio, I'm very impressed with Coach Mac.  I think he did a great job of getting in front of the kids AND…  making a good enough impression on them that they were convinced to come to Florida.

I would hate to think of him selling vacuum cleaners. 

When you see him coming, don't resist.  Just get out the check book and go for the cheapest one.

 

Now, the next question.  Can he win ball games?

We may have a good coach after all.

This morning on talk poo radio in Tally we were privy to recruiting news and commentary. The local expert commented on UF's haul and basically said Mac avoided a complete train wreck, but still the recruiting effort was horrific—though not as bad as it could have been, a failure. I hope we kick their @$$ silly this year! Jimblow Fisher gloating about how they didn't lose a single recruit they went after. I hope TPD has a bunch of off season fun with the incoming stars and FSU a good heap of academic ineligibility. No….me bitter??? Nah.

I think with having really only a month to recruit (Mac was hired just a few days before the dead period started), this is still FAR better than expected.  The staff didn't appear to reach for bodies just to fill a class - it appears careful thought was taken in targeting certain 3* sleepers among the obvious names still out for picking.  If the Cowart/Davis package deal didn't go to Auburn, this class could have rated even better.

As for Muschamp and a non-compete, I read somewhere reputable that non-competes don't exist in college football.  At least not in the top-level programs.  Muschamp's pull won't be so strong next year; I'm willing to bet on that.

And like Woody said, even with the big-name Harbaugh at Michigan, their class is stuck in the doldrums.

Checking for updated team rankings... don't see any updated just yet.  May be waiting for the LOIs to show, although ESPN shows Cowart on AU's list with no LOI.
