[gatortalk] Re: [gatornews] [SUN]: Frazier survives cut for Team USA's 19-under team

Strange thoughts.

I have never heard of this team.

If it has existed for more than a year, why haven't any of our super Freshmen been a part of it?

Beal, Matt Walsh, Mike Miller... Surely we would have had some participants before Frazier.

Florida rising sophomore guard Michael Frazier II survived the first cut at Team USA's 19-under tryouts and is one of 16 finalists to make the roster.
Florida coach Billy Donovan is coaching the U.S. 19-under team with assistants Mark Few (Gonzaga) and Shaka Smart (VCU). Together, the three coaches trimmed the tryout roster from 26 to 16 on Sunday. Final cuts will be made following Monday's practices in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The final 12 will represent Team USA in the FIBA 19-under World Championships to be held June 27-July 7 in the Czech Republic.
"The things that stand out about this team is just the athleticism, the speed and quickness, the ability to defend and put pressure on people, and offensive rebound," Donovan said. "We still have to get down to 12 players and the challenge right now is to see how these 16 guys fit into what we're trying to do. We'll learn a lot more in the next three practices. We'll see how well guys pick up certain things, how the chemistry is, the way they bond, the way they connect."
The finalists include Frazier, guard Ryan Arcidiacono (Villanova), forward Damyean Dotson (Oregon), guard Marcus Georges-Hunt (Georgia Tech), guard Aaron Gordon (Archbishop Mitty H.S./San Jose, Calif.), forward Jerami Grant (Syracuse.), forward Montrezl Harrell (Louisville), center Jahlil Okafor (Whitney Young H.S./Chicago, Ill.), guard Elfrid Payton (Louisiana-Lafayette), guard James Robinson (Pittsburgh), guard Marcus Smart (Oklahoma State), forward/center Jarnell Stokes (Tennessee), guard Rasheed Sulaimon (Duke), center Mike Tobey (Virginia), guard Nigel Williams-Goss (Findlay Prep/Happy Valley, Ore.) and guard Justise Winslow (St. Johns H.S./Houston, Texas).
Frazier averaged 5.6 points and 3.1 rebounds as a freshman and shot 46.8 percent from 3-point range.
