First 2013 college football win totals released

Can Lane Kiffin and USC bounce back to a 11-win season? (USATSI)Can Lane Kiffin and USC bounce back to a 11-win season? (USATSI)

We've seen Vegas weigh in with lines on the Games of the Year, and offshore sportsbooks offer multiple sets of division and league championship odds. But we hadn't seen any actual win totals -- the over/unders on a team's wins during the regular season. That is, until now.

Via Beyond the Bets, offshore sportsbook 5Dimes has issued a small set of win totals: just 19 teams, with many of the biggest names in the game (Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, etc.) conspicuous by their absence.

But some odds are better than no odds in the long, dry desert of the college football offseason, and here's what we've got:

ALABAMA
Over 11.5 (+140)
Under 11.5 (-180)

ARIZONA STATE
Over 9.5 (+175)
Under 9.5 (-245)

BOISE STATE
Over 10.5 (+120)
Under 10.5 (-160)

CALIFORNIA
Over 4.5 (+110)
Under 4.5 (-150)

CENTRAL FLORIDA
Over 8.5 (+125)
Under 8.5 (-165)

CINCINNATI
Over 9.5 (+120)
Under 9.5 (-160)

FLORIDA
Over 9.5 (+120)
Under 9.5 (-160)

FLORIDA STATE
Over 10.5 (+110)
Under 10.5 (-150)

INDIANA
Over 5.5 (-190)
Under 5.5 (+150)

LOUISVILLE
Over 10.5 (-130)
Under 10.5 (-110)

MICHIGAN
Over 9.5 (-155)
Under 9.5 (+115)

MISSOURI
Over 5.5 (-180)
Under 5.5 (+140)

NOTRE DAME
Over 9.5 (-135)
Under 9.5 (-105)

OKLAHOMA
Over 9.5 (+160)
Under 9.5 (-210)

PENN STATE
Over 8.5 (+150)
Under 8.5 (-190)

PITTSBURGH
Over 5.5 (-110)
Under 5.5 (-130)

TEXAS
Over 9.5 (-150)
Under 9.5 (+110)

USC
Over 10.5 (+115)
Under 10.5 (-155)

WEST VIRGINIA
Over 5.5 (-210)
Under 5.5 (+160)

A few notes:

  • As mighty as Alabama is, the juice on the under at 11.5 indicates the book believes a loss somewhere along the way for the Crimson Tide is more likely than Nick Saban's team running the table. Not surprising -- is any team ever likely to go undefeated? -- but worth noting.
  • As with the Trojans' divisional odds, their 7-6 2012 disaster seems to have barely happened where this line is concerned. The under at 10.5 is juiced, but still -- 10.5?
  • Startling to think about where former Big East rivals Pitt and West Virginia were at midseason last year -- Pitt still trying to put an opening week loss to FCS Youngstown State behind them, WVU in the top five -- and see that both teams' totals are set at 5.5 entering 2013.
  • Is Indiana going bowling? At a total of 5.5 and price on the over of -190, these odds seem to think so.
  • If we had to make one for-entertainment-purposes-only pick, we'd take Boise State under 10.5. At -160, it's an expensive bet, but the Broncos have a brutal road schedule: Washington, Fresno State, Utah State, BYU, San Diego State. Getting through that gauntlet with only one loss seems awfully unlikely.
