For those of you who have never been to Gators on the Pass in Treasure Island, here are a couple photos from the Pinellas County Gator Club Kickoff Party 8/18. It's the same room photographed from two different angles.
No big screen evident. Is it a good place to watch games? I mean, I can tell the clientele is great, but is the viewing great? If so, how early should one arrive? Thnx.
Cheers,GatorGene---;==;<They don't have a gigantic screen that I've seen, but they have some that are larger than the ones you can see along the ceiling in the photos. Here's their Facebook page, where you can see more photos: https://www.facebook.com/Gatorscafe#!/Gatorscafe I've never watched a game there, but they always have viewing parties, with prizes, etc. It's a huge place, so I don't think you'd have to be there all that early unless you wanted to sit in front of a specific TV. You could call there and ask to speak to "King Gator" (Sid Rice), the owner. He's a very gregarious guy and if it's not a busy time, I'm sure he'd tell you all about the viewing parties.
I did NOT go to Gators on John's Pass, because we bought our first big screen (heck first HD) TV Saturday morning. I was going to gleefully share with you my joy at watching the Gators in unprecedented clarity, when I noticed a lot of empty seats in the stadium. I couldn't go to this game, but what about my decision for Lousyana or Jax State? If I elect to stay home with my new best friend, LG, and there are empty seats at those games, am I any less a "loyal supporter" of the Gators? If I have the time and money to go, and don't, will that be a reflection of a lack of Gatorness (Gatorhood) on my part? I was a lot more comfortable with watching from my living room when every home game was sold out. Now, I'm not sure what to think.
Advice? Opinions?
Cheers,
GatorGene
