You remember the crap on this very mail list!
"UF should win the National Championship every year!"
That's nutty!

I hope you meant to put "health issues" in quotes. I am not sure I am buying that as the full story. Meyer flat out quit long before he left the program because he flat out had no answers post-Tebow. Spurrier did complain with a comment once that "I guess 10 wins isn't good enough." He never said where that came from. We assume fans.
Here's where I get aggravated. The coaches encourage fans to be rabid. Then..when they get the fan base all excited and engaged... then complain when fans bitch about a shitty product on the field. Now..does that mean some of the vitriol some fans put out there is ok? Absolutely not. Gainesville is barely a mid-sized city. The coaches can't even probably go to a store to get a diet coke without some sort of fan making a comment to them much less the ease at which they can via Twitter.
The job is not an easy one. It isn't supposed to be because it is never easy to build a consistent winner. I would love to know what Saban's blood pressure looks like.

Charlie,
Not directed at you, but the premise that fans 'run off' coaches is absurd.
SOS left because he wanted to give the NFL a try. I would argue the timing of his departure is more closely linked to his perceived lack of support from the administration and not the fans.
Urban left because he had health issues, tried to take a step back but couldn't. No ill will towards the man, I didn't like that he came back a year later, but can't fault him for getting his health under control.
Mac is still here.
What I find interesting is the narrative that we only run off good coaches - do we as fans not get credit for Zook and Muscrap? 😊
While I'm sure Mac hears the noise in the system, the decision to retain him or not will be made by a very select group of people (i.e. money people). While I have no inside information, the few big time boosters I am acquainted with like Mac and believe the next two years will be great. I am not entirely sold yet, but coming into this season, most were predicting a 7-5 or 8-4 type of season and that is the path we are heading down.
Beat Georgia and all will be right in the Gator Nation, in fact, all will be right in the world!

Supposedly we ran off Spurrier, ran off Meyer and are about to run off McElwain. Are we any different than any other big time program with our treatment of coaches. I've always thought no it's no different here than at Auburn, Texas, Michigan etc.
