This rule is interesting for the SEC, the NCAA allows graduate transfers with no restrictions. The only NCAA penalty is a reduction in APR points if they don't make academic progress. I would surmise it is unusual for the SEC to place its institutions at a competitive disadvantage, Alabam must not like this rule...This is the only thing I could find on the SEC rule"the rule requires the player to make progress toward a graduate degree. If that doesn't happen, the university won't be able to apply the grad-student exception in that athlete's sport for three years."
Florida has only had Jake McGee from Virginia and the OL from Fordham last year as a grad transfer in football. So the question is, which one didn't go to class? Also, the SEC does have a process to receive a waiver to eliminate the three year ban.
Sent from my iPad----1 - It IS accurate.2 - Stidham, who our coaches had the in-home visit with, is a transfer candidate, but NOT a grad transfer.Steve McI have seen several places where it is suggested that Florida is unable to take any more graduate transfers for a few years. I suspect strongly that this is not accurate because the coach made an in-home visit with one yesterday. Why would he have wasted the time and money to recruit someone who would not be allowed to play?Jerry
