I know I had my doubts that Treon was an SEC caliber QB based on last year and all the message boards had Grier ahead in the competition. I think McElwain knows what he's doing but this is a bit of a head scratcher.

BTW I'm kind of interested in how Driskel does this year. Will probably watch part of that game if it's available.

Florida sophomore quarterback Treon Harris will start on Saturday against New Mexico State, the Gators announced this evening. 

This came as a surprise to many, as freshman Will Grier, who will also play in the season opener, was receiving good reviews during fall camp. 

Jim McElwain's decision does not appear to be a pleasing one to Grier's father, Chad, who tweeted the following shortly after the news broke. 

Florida and New Mexico State are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. E.T. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
