Yep, there should be a lot more images of Pluto to come too.
And… Ceres is going to be photographed from about 900 miles out sometime this month by the Dawn spacecraft.
Just what are those bright spots?

Best meteor shower I ever saw was around 10-12 years ago—I think. It was literally raining meteors from 4 in the morning until the dawn's light finally drowned them out. I've been an active watcher for 40 years and there have only been a few show stoppers, but they were worth the wait.

I guess I was expecting something like a fireworks display. Most of the meteors were not that bright and had a very faint tail. Were I live, I get to see meteors somewhat frequently because of the good viewing conditions. (I have even seen the northern lights on occasion.)

A meteor every minute is boring? It isn't like watching ESPN, you know.
Watching celestial events is still exciting. It just doesn't compete with all the electric media we get to use today.

Unfortunately I got up at 2:45 and watched for about 1/2 hour. It was a perfect evening to watch—no clouds and I live in the country, so no city lights. It was boring! I saw a meteor about once a minute and very few were spectacular. I have a friend that did the same thing but watched until 4:00 am. His take was the same as mine—overrated.
