Florida junior shooting guard Michael Frazier II has declared for the NBA draft, a source at UF confirmed Thursday.
A two-year starter, Frazier was second on the team in scoring this season at 12.1 points per game and finished his Florida career with 998 points.
Frazier did not return phone calls seeking comment on his decision. He's projected as a mid-to-late second-round pick by some NBA mock draft websites. Frazier shot an SEC-best 44.7 percent from 3-point range as a sophomore, but his shooting percentage from beyond the arc dipped to 38 percent as a junior, as he took on the demands of being more of a focal point of opposing team's scouting reports and dealing with injuries.
Frazier is the first underclassman to leave UF since Bradley Beal, who left after his freshman season in 2012 and was taken third overall in the NBA draft by the Washington Wizards.
With Frazier gone, Florida will turn to junior guard Eli Carter, rising sophomore Brandone Francis and incoming freshman commitment KeVaughn Allen at the shooting guard spot. Francis sat out his freshman season due to academic reasons but is expected to be eligible as a sophomore.
According to multiple news sources, Frazier is expected to hire an agent and go through the process without considering a return to the Gators.
One NBA scout, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said he thinks Frazier is making a mistake by declaring as an underclassmen.
"I just haven't seen the consistency in performance from him," said the scout, who watched a handful of Gator games this season. "He had the platform at Florida, the chance to come back and knock them dead as a senior."

[gatortalk] Re: [gatornews] [SUN]: UF's Frazier declares for NBA draft
There were a lot of problems this year, but one that I noticed was that Frazier wanted to show that he was more of an all-around player than just a spot up shooter.
He worked with Jason Williams (I think) in the off-season to improve his ability to drive the basket and improve his NBA stock.
I thought that there were times this year where he ran into the tall timber to show his versatility rather than playing within the system.
