If you think about it, Roper must be pretty confident his offense will work. 

Why else would he leave a guy he's been working for ten years? 

Sure, the money's better, but it wouldn't be so great for just one year. That's what happens if it doesn't work out.

Duke football coach David Cutcliffe joined Tony Barnhart on The Paul Finebaum Show and discussed his former offensive coordinator, Kurt Roper, who is the new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Florida.

Cutcliffe believes that the Florida offense will respond to Roper and that the Gators will be tougher this season. Roper has worked with Cutcliffe every season but one since 1996 and has extensive experience in the SEC, with former positions at Tennessee, Kentucky and Ole Miss.

Roper played quarterback and defensive back at Rice before starting his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Tennessee. As the Ole Miss quarterbacks coach, he instructed record-setting, No. 1 pick Eli Manning. While the running backs coach at Tennessee, Roper was instrumental in the development of Vols running back Arian Foster, who rushed for more than 1,000 yards in 2007.

Roper's offenses at Duke produced four 1,000-yard receivers and three 3,000-yard passers in six seasons. In 2013, the Blue Devils set a school record for total touchdowns, the first time the Blue Devils have scored 20 or more touchdowns both rushing and passing in the same season.

Roper is leading a Gators offense that has quarterback Jeff Driskel returning after playing only three games last season. Florida opens the 2014 season against Idaho on Aug. 30.
