RE: [gatortalk] Re: [gatornews] [SUN]: It has been a while since a great year for a Gator wideout

I remember he struggled early one year and the solution was for him to slow down and wait for the blocks and then bust loose. Before that, he was slamming into linemen who hadn't opened a hole for him yet.

I think Shane has the reason he wasn't a 1000 yard rusher.  He also caught passes.

Also, Meyer had so many playmakers to go to, no one got too many opportunities.

Except Tebow.  Since he was the quarterback and all the fans wanted to see him with the ball, he got it almost every play.

In 2007, I'm not finding stats easily for this, and I have to run to a meeting.

Harvin never played a full season... he was always out for migraine's or suspensions.  IF he had played a full season, he probably still would not have made it.  He wasn't just a receiver.  A lot of his touches came in the running game as well.

Does this mean that Urban had Percy Harvin and never broke a 1,000?

Given that SECG stats and bowl stats now count toward season totals (and did not back in the 90s), how is this possible.

It has been awhile. The Gators had an amazing stretch under Steve Spurrier where they had nine 1,000-yard receivers in seven years. The year after Spurrier left, Taylor Jacobs caught 1,088 yards worth of passes.

He's the last Florida receiver to have a 1,000-yard season.
