Re: [gatortalk] Muschamp

Oops, sorry to repost this half copied. I was experimenting with it after Shane showed me a few copy/paste tips yesterday. It is his fault.

Gators coach Will Muschamp is set to deliver his first No. 1-ranked recruiting class after players sign letters of intent on Wednesday.
Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
GAINESVILLE —
A story exposing potential academic fraud, NCAA violations and racial harassment in the Auburn football program includes an allegation that Florida coach Will Muschamp paid a player when he was the team's defensive coordinator in 2007.
Former Auburn safety Mike McNeil told the websiteroopstigo.com that Muschamp unexpectedly gave him $400 after practice one day. Muschamp, through a UF spokesperson, denied any of it, and Auburn declined to comment.
"I had no clue what it was about because I'd never directly asked him for anything," McNeil told the website. "He slid about $400 over to me. He went into a drawer and gave me money and said, 'Is this enough? Is this good?' And I said, 'Yeah, I'm good.' "
It is the only time Muschamp is mentioned in the report, which came out Wednesday. Muschamp spoke to the media Tuesday and is not scheduled to do so again until Saturday.
He took the defensive coordinator job at Auburn in 2006 after one season as an assistant with the Miami Dolphins. He was the defensive coordinator at Texas for three seasons, starting with 2008, before Florida hired him as head coach in December 2010.
There have been no previous public accusations of Muschamp concerning major NCAA violations.
McNeil was arrested in March 2011 on an armed robbery charge and is scheduled to begin trial Monday.
While roopstigo is relatively unknown, it was founded by former New York Times and Sports Illustrated investigative reporter and author Selena Roberts. Roberts, who wrote the Auburn piece, exposed Alex Rodriguez's steroid use in a 2009 Sports Illustrated story.
