Throw out the final score and judge the two players on their own, and Glades Day's Kelvin Taylor might have been a better running back than Yulee's Derrick Henry on Friday night.
Taylor was quicker, more fluid and had better vision.
Henry, however, was unstoppable.
I watched the game Friday night.
Taylor was very impressive. He made yards when there were none to be had; often side-stepping in the middle of the line of scrimmage to find a crease.
Yulee was the better team and had a better defense, yet Taylor still found running room.
It reminded me of our teams when Emmitt was a Freshman. No one could block worth a darn, yet he found ways to make yards regardless.
Henry is truly a force, but I can't see him as an RB. He is very slow to get out of the backfield; his first step takes an eternity. Once he gets out of the backfield, he was a man among boys; however. No one could tackle him and his top end speed - once he gets up to it - was very good.
If I had Henry, I do would do whatever I could to teach him how to throw. He could be monster QB, and a threat to take it the distance on any down.
Second idea would be tight end; he has the frame and doesn't need the quick first step as much as good hands and power.
Defensive End is an intriguing idea, but seems a little bit of a waste.
