[gatortalk] Fwd: [gatornews] [SUN]: UF junior linebacker Jarrad Davis, safety Marcus Maye returning for senior season

Good news!  I saw yesterday Davis is coming back. But, waited all day and nothing about Maye.
This should help a lot.

Florida's defense received some good news Monday with the announcements that outside linebacker Jarrad Davis and safety Marcus Maye are returning for their senior season.

Both announced their decision on Twitter.

Davis posted the following: "One last ride as a Florida Gator!! Honored to wear the Orange & Blue one more time#GatorNation#BDN."

Maye posted: "One more go round!!"

Both juniors were contemplating an early exit to the NFL, but will remain with the Gators.

The deadline for declaring for the draft was Monday at midnight. UF ends up with five underclassmen leaving early — cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III, tailback Kelvin Taylor, safety Keanu Neal, defensive end Alex McCalister and wide receiver Demarcus Robinson.

Davis' decision to return is especially big for the Gators, given the lack of experience and depth at the linebacker positions. UF will have only six scholarship linebackers on the roster this spring — Davis, Daniel McMillian, Matt Rolin, Alex Anzalone, Rayshad Jackson and David Reese, a true freshman who has already enrolled.

In 2015, Davis was second on the team in total tackles with 98. He also had 3.5 sacks, intercepted a pass and had 11 tackles for losses.

Davis announced after the SEC Championship Game he would be returning for his senior season. In recent weeks, there has been speculation that he might be reconsidering his decision, even though he did not indicate that anything had changed concerning his intentions.

Maye's decision to return also is critical after the other starting safety, Neal, declared for the draft two weeks ago.

Maye is coming off a breakout junior season in which he started the last 12 games and was fourth on the team in tackles with 82. He also recorded two interceptions and six pass breakups.
