RE: [gatortalk] FW: [gatornews] [SUN]: Police: UF linebacker Morrison arrested for barking at K-9

It’s no secret here that I feel only about 10% of LEO are the real deal. The rest are control freaks who like to throw their weight around and intimidate people.

That said, I agree this arrest was overkill, however, it is only the tip of the iceberg of a disturbing trend of sanctioned police abuse. If you think that all LEO are upstanding citizens, visit www.photographyisnotacrime.com and watch some videos of police abuse.

I hope the DA throws this out. Everyone here knows that our players are all upstanding young citizens who walk a straight line. J

I'm one that will usually stand up for law enforcement and give them the benefit of the doubt.  But this arrest seemed highly unusual to me from the beginning and moreso when the DA said it looked suspect.

This video shows a blatant abuse of police powers, no reason to arrest at all in this situation and I didn't see where he wasn't cooperating.  If anything the deputy needs to be ticketed for littering  as he flings an empty bottle off his car at the end.

You have to wonder, how would this situation have been handled in Tuscaloosa? Tallahassee?Columbus? Athens, etc.

Stupid cop for arresting Morrison.  Stupid Morrison for doing anything that would even look like he wanted to get near a police car.

Antonio Morrison, a University of Florida linebacker who was arrested last month after police said he punched a bouncer, is in legal trouble again. This time deputies say he interfered with an investigation by barking at a police K-9.

Morrison, a 19-year-old sophomore, was arrested early Sunday morning after Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies said that he harassed the dog during an incident near a bar that has been the scene of dozens of law enforcement calls in recent months.

Reaction was swift from Gator team officials.

“I’m extremely disappointed in Antonio Morrison’s decision making,” Coach Will Muschamp said on the UF Twitter account Sunday. “He has been suspended from the team and will miss at least two games to begin the season.”

UF opens against Toledo on Aug. 31 before a road game at Miami the following week.

Morrison was arrested on two misdemeanor charges and was released from the Alachua County jail Sunday afternoon, but the area’s chief prosecutor said late Sunday that he has some concerns about the legality of the charges.
