Re: [gatortalk] We're playing

The Top Two would be no improvement.

ELITE EIGHT BABY!!!!

Glad we're in it, but I've always hated that term.

For years, this round was called the Regional Finals.

The three rounds that begin the weekend had nicknames, as there were 5 days that the press had nothing to do but write about the upcoming games;

The Big Dance;
The Sweet 16; and
The Final Four.

Now, someone has decided that every round needs a nickname, so they can copyright it and sell more coffee mugs or whatnot.

As a result, we have abominations like "the Elite Eight" or the particularly odious "Final Two." The thought that the National Championship game is called the Final Two makes me ill.
