DeAundrae Ballard, a 6-foot-6, 180-pound swing player from Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, has committed to the University of Florida's 2017 basketball recruiting class.
Ballard, who plays at the same school that produced former Orlando Magic and current Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard, is one of the top players in the country. He is ranked No. 58 overall in the 247Sports composite rankings and is the No. 12 small forward in the nation.
Howard, of course, bypassed college and was the No. 1 pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, selected by the Magic.
Ballard has averaged 23 points per game in each of the past two seasons at SACA and he also averaged eight rebounds per game this past season. He shot 44 percent (228-of-492) from the field last season, and made 31 percent of his 3-point attempts (52-of-170), but he's best in a slasher-type role.
He made 55 (235-of-400) percent of his field goals as a sophomore and shot only 47 3s.
Ballard was part of the Georgia Stars team that won the Nike Peach Jam 16-and-under title AAU last summer. He will play with Game Elite this summer.
He is the second commitment to the Gators 2017 class, joining Chattanooga, Tenn., shooting guard Shai Alexander.
