Florida defensive coordinator Geoff Collins could be emerging as a possible candidate for the head coaching vacancy at Central Florida, according to Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman, who is reporting that the school will take "a close look" at Collins for the job.

Under Collins, Florida ranks 18th in the nation in total defense and 19th in scoring defense.

Collins certainly is familiar with the Knights. He was UCF's linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator for two years (2008-09) under George O'Leary, who retired earlier this week.

Collins and UF coach Jim McElwain were not available to comment Tuesday.

Kicking anxiety

Sophomore safety Nick Washington said it makes him a little nervous that Florida's place-kicker Saturday could be a walk-on who was added to the roster this week after going through tryouts.

What happens if injured starter Austin Hardin can't go and the game comes down to the new guy having to make a field goal to win the game?

"I wouldn't like that," Washington said. "We have faith in Austin. It's a little nerve-wracking when you have a tryout for kickers. It's a little like, 'Oh.' "

Washington kiddingly said he'd volunteer to be the kicker.

"I can kick," he said. "I can make a 60-yarder right now."

Treon ready to rock?

Junior tailback Kelvin Taylor said the players are expecting big things out of quarterback Treon Harris, who is starting his second consecutive game in place of the suspended Will Grier.

Harris showed lots of promise in the loss to LSU two weeks ago, throwing for 271 yards and two touchdowns.

"I feel like Treon is going to play a great game," Taylor said. "I feel like he is getting more comfortable. All of the guys are supporting him. He really needed that for everybody to be supporting him.

"Now, he knows it's his team and he's looking forward to just going out there and having a great game. He had a great week of practice all last week during the bye week. He's looking forward to having a wonderful game. He can't wait, man."

Riles riled up

The Florida-Georgia game is a little extra special for sophomore offensive guard Antonio Riles, who grew up a Bulldogs fan in Lawrenceville, Ga.

"It's one of the most exciting weeks of the year," he said. "This is what I came here to do, play Georgia. So it's most definitely exciting to me.

"Yeah, I did (grow up a Georgia fan). I was right in the heart of it, you know how that goes. It's good to be on the other side."

Riles said he'll look forward to going home if the Gators win Saturday.

"This is exciting to me because I love to go home with my Florida stuff after the win. So, I'm waiting for that to happen," he said. "If we keep playing and keep going out there and do our jobs, I think we can pull out the win. It's going to be a tough win, but I think we can do it."

More love for Callaway

Nothing true freshman wide receiver Antonio Callaway has done on the field has surprised his teammates, Taylor said.

"We knew coming into camp that the guy was very special. He made a lot of big-time plays in camp, and everybody knew he was going to be special," Taylor said. "It really didn't surprise people, to be honest. In camp, the guy was making one-handed catches left and right.

"Everybody knew the guy was going to be a big player at receiver. He's young, but the dude is very mature. He understands this game, understands what he's doing. Take the ball, get vertical quick. The guy is just an explosive player. He's just going to keep getting better and better.

"He's a huge weapon for us. He's a threat. I feel like he's one of best receivers in the country. He's just going to keep showing it every week. The guy's a beast."
