I swear Andreu makes me want to punch my computer screen sometimes.  Despite our offensive woes..  There is no way in hell that Kentucky and South Carolina have a better overall backfield than Florida.  MIss St is only ranked so high because of Dak Prescott and Tennessee because of Josh Dobbs.  That doesnt make them overall better than Florida's either.  I also still think the QB job is Griers to lose.  He fits a similar (probably better passer and maybe more athletic) mold of AJ McCarron.  Mac can fix INTs.  He cant teach a QB how to think better and I think Grier is a better thinker than Treon.

THE UPSIDE

Jim McElwain has a track record of getting great production out of his tailbacks, so Kelvin Taylor, Adam Lane and two promising freshmen will have an opportunity to make some things happen in what should be a balanced offense. Taylor has shown brief glimpses of potential greatness and may have a chance to improve his consistency now that he's the clear No. 1 guy at tailback heading into the season. Lane came out of nowhere to rush for more than 100 yards and earn the offensive MVP award in the Birmingham Bowl. He brings a powerful and explosive presence to the position. At quarterback, Treon Harris has shown he can make plays with his arm and his legs. He should be much more comfortable after gaining the experience he did last season. Redshirt freshman Will Grier showed impressive skills as a dropback passer in the spring and can make all the throws.

THE DOWNSIDE

The Gators don't know who their starting quarterback is heading into camp. Grier ended the spring slightly ahead of Harris and likely will take the first snaps with the No. 1 offense, but the two will still be battling for the starting role in August. Harris was a much better runner than passer after taking over as the starter last season. His mobility could weigh in his favor considering the lack of experience and depth on the offensive line. Grier appears to have a big-time arm and a tremendous upside, but he has no playing experience at this level and had some issues with interceptions in the spring. At tailback, there are some concerns about depth. Lane missed considerable time in the spring dealing with a hamstring issue and his durability has come into question. If Lane or Taylor go down, the No. 2 tailback likely will be a true freshman, and freshmen traditionally have problems picking up blocking schemes in pass protection.

NEWCOMER TO WATCH

Maybe McElwain's biggest recruiting victory last winter was getting Jordan Scarlett to back out of his longtime commitment to Miami and sign with the Gators. His combination of size, speed and natural running ability make him a strong candidate to see immediate playing time at a position of need.
