Exactly. That is why I have, from a very reliable source, news of a mandatory physics class for all DB’s prior to playing. There will also be quarterly continuing ed credits that must be maintained or risk losing eligebility. Shocking, but 100% true.

GAINESVILLE -- Cody Riggs’ momma is no fan of the NCAA’s new targeting rule. Riggs was ejected on the first play from scrimmage in UF’s 36-17 loss to Missouri after he launched himself at the head of Tigers wideout L’Damian Washington following a 41-yard completion.

I do not believe that this is an accurate statement.

Riggs launched at the midsection of an airborne receiver.

By the time that the hit occurred, gravity being what it is, the receiver was much lower than he was at the time that Riggs left his feet, causing the top of Riggs helmet to hit the bottom of the receiver's.

As the rule is written, so be it. I think a welcome exception would be for hits that occur or were initiated while the target was airborne.

It is a little tough to predict where the hit will take place when the receiver's feet are not on the ground.
