Re: [gatortalk] Re: [gatornews] Florida vs. Georgia Game - Important Information

Obviously the real law must have more clarity.  The way the warning was written, you would have to break the law putting your open container in the trunk or glove box and you would break the law removing it.  If you did not have a garage that you could drive into, especially if you had to park on the street in front of your home, it is not clear what you could do to transport the drink into the house.

Don't forget that an open container can be a bottle of liquor or beer that has the seal broken or the cap removed just once time.  That must be in the glove box or in the trunk, and I'm sure that is what they are talking about.  Although, there may be some inebriated enough to put their red solo cup full of beer in the glove box...

I am glad that the city has been cracking down on drinking.  Over the years, there were many times I could not enjoy the game (besides the score) because of drunk persons at the game.  Frankly, that is why I quit going to the game while I still was able.  As I read the warnings, one stuck out at me.  See below:

Do people really store open containers of any beverage in their locked glove boxes?  Do they make a spill proof box?  How do you legally get your open container out of the car?

Inquiring minds want to know!

9. Fans are reminded that when they are tailgating, the State of Florida prohibits open containers in automobiles except in locked glove compartments or locked trunks. Police will strictly enforce this law.
