I'm watching the Florida/Tennessee game from September 18, 1993. It was a fun, 41-34 Florida win. Hot as blazes at the start, pounding rain after dark at the finish.
Heath Shuler QB, Joey Kent catching passes for the Vols.
The Gators jumped out to a 21-0 lead with a freshman quarterback named Danny Wuerffel. E. Rhett as Hoss running back. James Bates caused a UT fumble. Kevin Carter got a sack. The Swamp nickname was in its infancy.
Danny had just taken over at quarterback from Terry Dean. The announcers were helping us spell his unusual name.
They were also talking about how Danny got the job and Mick Hubert's going crazy announcing, "Doering's got a touchdown!" Yes, the famous 24-20 win over Kentucky was on September 11, 1993 the previous week.
