RE: [gatortalk] Jacksonville Traffic for UF/UGa

The best access will be from the I-95 side of town. On the north side of town, get on US 1 East (aka MLK Jr. Parkway) and it will take you straight to the stadium. If you’re at the beaches, just shoot yourself and get it over with.

By the way, although it was a “Navy” ship, it was a cargo ship that carries Marine trucks, tanks, Humvees, etc. It was not a warship, and it was being towed by tugboats.

Subject: [gatortalk] Jacksonville Traffic for UF/UGa

Those of you coming to Jacksonville for the UF/UGa game need to be aware of a major traffic issue.

Last week a Navy Ship hit the Mathews Bridge in downtown causing structural damage, a couple of steel beams were ripped off the bottom of the bridge.

The bridge was closed indefinitely, I’ve seen estimates of 1 – 3 months for repairs..

The bridge was closed yesterday for the Jaguars Game, but that crowd is dwarfed by the UF/UGa game day traffic.

If you are not familiar with the Mathews Bridge it is one of 2 bridges that bring traffic directly to the stadium and if it’s closed, getting downtown is going to be a nightmare for the game.

You’ve been warned.
