I also read that story. Very sad ... and very understandable. With the benefit of hindsight, it sure seems irresponsible for Scot to disregard the medical risks and shop for a doctor to clear him .. and reprehensible that the NFL would do the same. AND, I can understand why someone who had devoted so much time to football as a career would want to find a way to keep playing.
