RE: [gatortalk] Commits & Coaching Change

I remember cringing when Leak ran an option play, too.

I guess that's a part of a balanced offense, but Leak sure wasn't an option quarterback.

Chris Leak was 25/36   69.4%   213 yds  1 TD    128.3 Rating.  He was the offensive MVP of the championship game. He opened that game 9-9 for 99 yds and directed the Gators to 3-straight TD drives against the Buckeyes.

Funny you should say that. More than one football writer has said to not worry about this class.

Mullen runs a completely different kind of offense than Mac.

That's probably why he went to Fields who's committed to uga when he has Corral already committed to us.

I don't buy the theory that a different scheme requires different players. I would wager that the best players can fit into any scheme.

I would also think that a good coach could adapt his methods to the talent he has available. The Dolphins of Csonka/Kiick were not the Dolphins of Woodley/Strock were not the Dolphins of Dan Marino; yet all made it to the Super Bowl under the same coach.

Personally, I found Mullen's offense with Chris Leak at the helm to have been the most balanced and interesting to watch. How many completed passes in a row did Leak throw in the 06 Championship Game?

Sure we had success with Tebow (and a couple pretty miserable years as well), but those offenses were hardly a thing of beauty. I've always felt that we simply had more talent than the opponents in the Tebow NC year, not that we used that talent in an especially creative or effective manner.
