Re: [gatortalk] Bad day for the Gators

Nebraska was difficult for two reasons: they are an exceptional serve/receive team.  Those serves had UF out of system all night.  Also their setter, who was outstanding and kept them IN system most of the evening.  She was injured and not on the team when UF faced them early in the season.  She made more of a difference than Foeke.  Even Mary Wise said the setter deserved the MVP over Foeke.

I thought maybe we would be successful against them because they weren't as tall as us;  now I'm sort of wishing UF had faced Penn State instead.

I am so upset for Coach Mary.  Apparently she was the sentimental favorite among all the other VB coaches as well (they have a nationwide meeting that occurs at the same time as the Final Four.)  That really says something about how well liked and respected she is nationally.

Nevertheless, it was a hell of a season and a fun ride.  Go Gators!

Nebraska looked really good and it always seems to be tough to beat a team you've beaten once during the year (look at Auburn and Georgia). The first set was close and if the Gators had won that, the match might have gone differently. No question Nebraska deserved the victory.

Yeah, I'm disappointed for her, too.  Nebraska was just a better team, and this is their third straight final four.  That experience showed tonight.
