I'm just glad the University of Florida has finally recognized my contributions to…
What? Oh, Nora Barry…
Never mind.

Nora Barry's contributions may not always stand out in the final statistics, but her impact on every Florida lacrosse game is undeniable.
NCAA tournament
Who: Northwestern (13-6) vs. Florida (18-2)
When: Saturday, 2 p.m.
Where: Dizney Stadium on UF campus
"Nora is one of those players who always does the dirty work," UF coach Amanda O'Leary said. "She's not going to be in the box score as the number one scorer or the best defender, but she's going to get the ground balls, she's going to get the draw controls, and really do all the little things that make the difference.
"When you ask coaches what wins games, it's the little things — the 50-50 ground balls, the draw controls — and she does that."
People in the know are paying attention this year.
Barry, who has started all 63 games of her UF career heading into Saturday's NCAA quarterfinal at home against Northwestern, earned first-team American Lacrosse Conference honors, was named to the ALC All-Tournament Team and was a first-team IWLCA All-South Region selection.
"It's been really nice," Barry said. "I'm really appreciative of all the honors, but the most exciting thing for me is seeing all of the younger players come in and step up and play amazing and come out with these huge wins that we really weren't expecting to have coming into this season, thinking it was going to be a rebuilding year."
Barry, a junior midfielder from Marcellus, N.Y., leads the 18-2 Gators in ground balls (41), ranks third in draw controls (46) and points (39) and is fourth in caused turnovers (19).
She also has set a pair of single-game program records this year with five caused turnovers against No. 2 Syracuse and four free-position goals against High Point, and she recorded a career-high eight draw controls against James Madison.
In addition, Barry has been money with the game on the line.
She has scored the game-winning goal in a team-leading five games this season, including the last matchup with Northwestern in the ALC Tournament championship (9-8 UF win) with 32 seconds left to play on the Wildcats' home field.
"We have the utmost confidence when she has the ball," O'Leary said. "She is absolutely clutch in those situations."
With the Gators having lost 13 seniors from last year's team and with just two this year, Barry also has emerged as a leader.
"It's been hard, but it's been an amazing experience to see all the underclassmen develop into such great players when they were given the opportunity this year," Barry said. "Even though we had so many new members, we just meshed really quick."
Last year, Florida fell in the quarterfinals at Syracuse, denying UF a second straight final-four berth.
The Gators advanced to their only NCAA semifinal in 2012 — the only previous time they hosted quarterfinal play — when Barry was a freshman.
"It's crazy," Barry said. "We're all so anxious, especially me, Shannon (Gilroy) and the other juniors knowing what it feels like to get there and knowing from last year how difficult it is to make it back. It makes it more exciting, but also that much more nerve-wracking because it's do or die.
"We're going to be well-prepared for Saturday and are going to give it our all."
O'Leary expects nothing less from this 5-foot-4 warrior.
"I give Nora credit because she works so hard throughout the game," O'Leary said. "It's not like she is getting a rest. She is on that field for 60 minutes and running that midfield for 60 minutes, which is a daunting task for anybody. But then to have the calm, cool collectiveness to take that last shot and the confidence to do it, I think that just says it all about her."
