Re: [gatortalk] So what did you think, Woody?

But losing to ga sou is like losing to Vanderbilt. Nobody loses to Vander...  What?  Huh??

well by the time GSU rolled around we kinda already knew they weren't very good... should we have beaten them still?  yes.  But we were so injury plagued by then and the team was feeling so defeated too.

Yes, thanks, Woody!  It's nice to have someone from our group reporting on this.

I'm still worried, but not as much.

Thanks, Woody!

Makes me cautiously optimistic.

Well...  I take Spring Games with a  grain of salt and at the angle I was sitting it was kinda difficult to tell what was going on.. but that being said..

QBs

Driskel looks fine and seems to have a good understanding of the offense... you can see that they do want to pass more.  But Driskel is still advertising his throws.. and thats never a good thing.  He does seem more comfortable in this offense.  I think if he stays healthy we win 8 or more.  ESPN says he was 18 of 32 for 167 yards and 1 TD.

Mornhinweg is the clear #2 in my opinion.  He actually had better success than Driskel passing, but as far as I could see not as great of command of the team.

Grier... is soooooo smallllll.  Like TINY compared to the others.  BUT.. he gets that ball out FAST and had some happy feet that you expect from a newbie.  Once he gets some size and learns to handle the speed of the college game... he's gonna be a good one.

The O-line seems to be pretty solid and technique a bit improved...  just not sure they are deep enough if we are plagued by injuries.

RBs - We will be just fine on the back front.  They are more involved in the passing game than we are used to seeing.

First... Adam Lane... IS HUGE!  He looks like he could plow through a line of steamrollers if he needs to.  I was like holy crap.  He's short.. but he's built.  He had some good runs too.

Kelvin...  If Matt Jones doesn't get going soon... will probably be one of the starters probably opposite Mack Brown.

WRs... as far as I am concerned.. are still a work in progress.. but a lot of people in the stands were liking what they were seeing.  They do look like understand their routes better and therefore running better routes.  So thats a  plus.   Quinton Dunbar and Demarcus Robinson were probably the go to guys.. but look out for Alvin Bailey...  he looks like he could sneak up on a few defenses. Not sure the QBs trust them to be where they need them... that MAY be why Driskel telegraphs his throws?

The D will be as good as always... but I do think they .. were held back a bit?  They normally are in Spring Games.. but it almost seemed like they were purposely trying to make the O look good.  That may just be me.  The idea is to build up the confidence of the O...and it does seem to be working.

To me.. the most welcome site was that Kyle Christy and Austin Hardin seem to have found their mojo again.  Hardin only missed one and like Muschamp said.. that was not his fault.. it was a bad snap.  VERY bad.

How good is this team?  Good question.. we won't know till the third game if you ask me.  But I say that every year.
