I think it was a horrible thing for the guy to do.  I am not sure what I think the punishment for him ought to be.  I think a parallel for the gators would have been for someone to have poisoned Albert.  I suspect the "fair" thing would be a large fine and a long probation.   While I might want to see him serve jail time, I am not sure that would accomplish anything.

If you recall, a crazy nut Alabama Fan, Harvey Updyke, poisoned the trees a couple of years ago, after Auburn beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa…

 

Despite all efforts, the trees have not survived.
