RE: [gatortalk] Fwd: [gatornews] ESPN.com: Sharrif Floyd moves up Kiper's Big Board

No offense, but I’ve been studying the drafts since high school.

But, if I studied drafts for a couple of decades an interviewed dozens of NFL coaches over the same time period, I would acquire a pretty good knowledge of predicting how college achievements, height/weight/speed, NFL combine performance and general "buzz" translate to draft status.

Combine that with different teams' positions of need and statement from management as to what they are looking for in the draft, and I could forecast a draft pretty accurately.

Does the ability to forecast the draft translate to who will and who won't succeed in the pros? No, of course not. for example, I suspect that Sturgis will be a great long term pro, and should be a higher draft pick than he will be. Still, I suspect that he will be taken in one of the last rounds, because that is the way that things work.

So, for what Kiper does - predict the draft and evaluate whether a pick was a good pick vis a vis whether the same or an equivalent player could have been taken later - I think is is qualified and does a pretty good job.

Just how many players has Mel personally drafted?

I've never made beer, but I can tell a good one from a bad one.

Speaking of which, has anyone tried Widmer Bros. Nelson Imperial IPA? Wow.
