Re: [gatortalk] Toomer's Oaks are Coming Down

No sorrow here!  I now call it Dead Tree, Alabama.

A few years ago, Paula and I were attending the UF/Auburn football game with a couple of friends we were RVing with and parked right across from the trees about 3 spaces from Toomer's Drug Store on the corner.  Great place to park for pre-game events prior with easy access to downtown restaurants, bars, Toomer's, etc.

However, after Auburn had beat our butts and we walked back to the car, we were surrounded by about 2,000 drunks also loaded with toilet paper.  We needed a police officer to protect us for the 45 minutes it took these fools to run out of toilet paper and stop harrassing us.  We needed a police escort to leave.

Glad their dead.  The world's a better place.

Subject: [gatortalk] Toomer's Oaks are Coming Down

You have to feel a little bit of sorrow for Auburn Fans.

After their Spring Game this year, they will roll the Toomer's Oaks one final time.

If you recall, a crazy nut Alabama Fan, Harvey Updyke, poisoned the trees a couple of years ago, after Auburn beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa…

Despite all efforts, the trees have not survived.
