Re: [gatortalk] Softball: What Happened?

I suppose there's a chance for them to come back after the smoke clears. Maybe that's what the father is up to with Foley.

Not that I can see...there was some noise that Kevin Fagan had an appointment to talk to Jeremy Foley, and I haven't heard (or seen) anything about the three of them since.  I don't know if they have the same rules for softball where they have to sit out or not...I would think that some coaches might be concerned about what happened at Florida and not want to inherit a locker room issue.  I've read rumors of U of South Alabama because another Fagan sister is there.  (Rumor is that Walton didn't recruit that Fagan because of "character issues".)

Three starters on the team (the Fagan sisters and Cheyenne Coyle) were suspended indefinitely from the team prior to UF playing FGCU.  All three of them now are living at the Fagan residence in Dunnellon and Kevin Fagan has said the three will not be returning.  (There are a lot of rumors about what happened, but most claim there were racial and/or homophobic tweets and posts being shared on Twitter and Facebook; a player confronted one of them saying they'd take the issue to Coach Walton, and there was a fight. Some say the police were called.) Whatever the three of these ladies did, the remainder of the team said they could no longer play with them, thus for team unity (at minimum) they were booted off the team.

UF won its next game but loss the one subsequently, and was eliminated in their own regional.  Never made it to supers or WS, obviously.

Coyle at and least Sami Fagan were really key components of the team; Kasey Fagan was a better than average player. Sami Fagan was a freshman and I'd say was the most talented of the three.  The other two were sophomores. It's going to be tough to fill those spots; hopefully Walton can get some transfers to do so.

Maybe I was looking the other way, but what happened to our highly regarded softball team?

I recall some key players being suspended for a game against Joe Somebody U, but never any explanation other than fighting (fighting? there's no fighting in softball).

Then somehow it is time for the CSWS and we are not par of it. Did we fight again? Were the player suspended for multiple games? Does Darren Hambrick play softball? What happened?
