She won at the NCAA, national and international levels. That career-full of accolades landed Gator Great Bridget Sloan into the 2020 USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame, the organization announced Saturday.
Before she came to Florida to help lead the Gators to three consecutive NCAA team titles, Sloan was a longstanding member of the U.S. Senior National team. She was the youngest member of the U.S.'s silver-medal team at the Beijing Summer Olympics. The next year, she claimed individual all-around gold at the World Championships.
More Sloan achievements with USA Gymnastics:
- Six-time member of U.S. Senior National Team (2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13)
- Represented the U.S. National Team in 15 international competitions, including on the U.S.'s 2010 (silver), 2009 and 2007 (reserve athlete) World Championship teams
- Six-time Visa Championship medalist (gold for 2009 all-around, uneven bars and floor; silver for 2007 floor; bronze for 2008 bars and 2006 beam)
- Part of U.S.'s 2011 Pan America Games gold medal team
She won her first NCAA all-around as a freshman in 2013, the same year Florida won its first NCAA team title. She went on to become Florida's career leader with six NCAA individual event titles, which stands No. 3 all-time among NCAA gymnasts.
She claimed the Honda Award as the top collegiate gymnast as a freshman and senior. The 2016 Southeastern Conference Female Athlete of the Year, Sloan became the first Gator to complete a 'Gym-Slam' – a 10.0 in every event. In addition to sharing every Gator event record, Sloan owns Florida records for career wins (95) and all-around victories (27).
