What happened: Andrew Nembhard drilled a 3-point shot with 1.2 seconds to play to give Florida a stunning win over No. 1 seed LSU.
The Gators trailed by double digits for most of the game and had no answer for LSU's Naz Reid, but battled back in the last 10 minutes of the game and likely locked up an NCAA bid.
Florida made 6-of-13 three-pointers in the second half.
One of the keys to Florida's comeback was a rare 6-point play that took the Gators from down three to up three.
Keyontae Johnson hit a 3-point shot and Kevarrius Hayes was fouled while setting a screen. Naz Reid was called for a flagrant foul and the LSU bench for a technical and Florida made three-of-the-four free throws with 3:45 to play.
Reid hit a 3 with 13.2 to play to set up the finish.
"It was just our guys playing in space," said Florida coach Mike White.
Florida started slowly and LSU pounded the Gators inside to lead by 10 at the half. The Gators were 2-of-15 on 3-point shots and LSU scored 26 of its 35 points in the paint.
LSU had the benefit of playing with freshman guard Javonte Smart, who had been suspended along with coach Will Wade. Smart was cleared by the school in Friday morning and finished the game with 13 points.
Double figures
Keyontae Johnson, Florida 16 points and 10 rebounds
Andrew Nembhard, Florida 20 points
Jalen Hudson, Florida 13 points
KeVaughn Allen, Florida 10 points
Naz Reid, LSU 26 points and 13 rebounds
Javonte Smart, LSU 13 points
Kavell Bigby-Williams LSU, 11 rebounds
Inside the box score: Florida struggled at the free throw line, especially Johnson. He missed all five of his free throw attempts and Florida finished the game 16-for-26. They did finish strong making 8-of-10.
Quote: "We proved we could play with the best of the best," Nembhard said. "I've thought that the whole season, but I think we showed it tonight."
White said, "To be as competitive as we were against these guys three times, to get them twice, I think says a lot about the heart and character of our team."
Next up: The Gators (19-14) advance to the SEC Tournament semifinals on Saturday at 1 p.m. against the South Carolina-Auburn winner at 1 p.m. Saturday on ESPN. LSU (26-6) will find out Sunday where it is seeded in the NCAA Tournament.
