Florida redshirt freshman offensive lineman Octavius Jackson's playing career is over after undergoing surgery in January on a chronically injured shoulder.

Jackson, who came close to playing as a true freshman this past season, originally injured his shoulder at Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Ga.

UF is seeking a medical hardship for Jackson, which will allow him to remain in school on scholarship without counting against the program's overall scholarship limit of 85.
