If anything, in my opinion, this is is more on Mullen! How you have one of the best offenses of all time but can't recruit or coach a defense (regardless of the coordinator)? That's Mullen's purview as well! 

Putting everything on Grantham seems like a cop out.

Shame to squander such an incredibly talented offense. We should've beaten Alabama too! So close.

Coach em up next yr as the Ol Ball Coach would say!

Last we saw the Florida Gators, they were literally trying to match the Alabama Crimson Tide punch-for-offensive-punch and came awfully close to pulling it off in the SEC Championship.

Wednesday, the Gators need to shrug off that 52-46 loss and take on a very tough Oklahoma Sooners team fresh off a Big XII title in this year's Cotton Bowl Classic on Wednesday night.

Kickoff is at 8 p.m. at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Gators (8-3), ranked No. 10 in the Amway Coaches Poll, seemed to be able to keep up with top-ranked Alabama behind the arm of Kyle Trask, who threw for three touchdowns, but in the end, turnovers proved too costly. Trask, who is a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, finished the season with 43 touchdown passes against just five interceptions.

As for the Sooners (8-2), ranked No. 7, they've been able to bounce back from a 1-2 start with seven straight wins, including last week's 27-21 win in the Big XII title game over Iowa State. Quarterback Spencer Rattler has improved throughout the season, and has thrown for 25 touchdown passes.

The Cotton Bowl was played from its 1937 inception until 2010 in the stadium that bears the same name. In 2011, it was moved to AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

What's the latest line for Florida Gators vs. Oklahoma Sooners?

As of Saturday evening, the Florida Gators are a two-point favorite over the Oklahoma Sooners, according to BetMGM.

The over-under is 71.5 points.

The money line for Wednesday's game is -145 for the Gators and +120 for the Sooners.

[gatortalk] Pick 'em results

Some high scores last Saturday, helped along once again by game cancellations.

Brian Duffield, Gene Sanders, Kevin S. Robinson, and Larry Green were 10-2, to take first place.

Allen Lamb, Bruce Smith, Clint Carver, Frazier Chiles, John Bowers Jr., Mike Holland, Ozzie Sabina III, Sheri Weathers, and Tim Roberts were second at 9-3.

And the winner for the overall season is Scott Lucas at 85-47. Yay Scott!

Mary Weigly is one game behind in second place, 84-48. Yay Mary!

Bruce Smith and Mary Lynn tied for third at 83-49. Yay Bruce and Mary Lynn!

We'll have a sure-to-be-weird Bowl Game Edition in a day or two. After Santa Claus is out of the way.

Gardener was the kid from Jones HS in Orlando that held the signing ceremony.  The problem with that stunt was he didn't have a UF LOI to sign...

I don't know if he did it to try and pressure our coaches into sending him one or not, but whatever it was backfired on him.  The kid is a great player 4* talent for sure.  The fact he signed with JSU and had no other committable offers tells me grades nightfall been the issue...

Trinity Christian Super 11 lineman Austin Barber commits to Florida

Trinity Christian offensive tackle Austin Barber (left), a Super 11 selection, blocks during preseason high school football practice. Barber, who helped Trinity to the Class 3A state title on Wednesday night, committed Thursday night to the University of Florida.

One day after winning a state championship at the home of the Seminoles, Austin Barber is committing his football future to their classic rivals.

The Super 11 offensive lineman announced his commitment to the University of Florida on Thursday evening on Twitter.

Barber, a member of the Times-Union's Super 11, had de-committed from Minnesota in November.

Listed at 6-7, 300 pounds, Barber lined up at left tackle throughout the season as the Conquerors won their last 12 games and won the Florida High School Athletic Association championship in Class 3A, the eighth state title in school history. Trinity rallied from a 16-0 hole to defeat Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna 25-22 at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.

Barber helped to clear the way for the Conquerors' 2,127 yards on the ground during the season, despite several injuries at the running back position.

He's the Gators' third player to commit from the Jacksonville area for the 2021 class. His Trinity Christian teammate, wide receiver Marcus Burke, signed during the opening of the early signing period on Wednesday, as did Episcopal tight end Nick Elksnis.
