Ok, so Florida ended the baseball regular season on a four-game losing streak, including being swept by top-ranked Arkansas in a three-game series in Fayetteville.

Time to turn the page for the Gators (35-19, 17-13 SEC) to the postseason. The Gators dropped from No. 9 to No. 13 in the latest D1Baseball Top 25 rankings.

"Yeah, we talked about that at the end of the game," UF coach Kevin O'Sullivan said after Saturday's 9-3 loss to the Razorbacks. "Bottom line is as difficult as this weekend was, we have to move on. The postseason starts Tuesday and we'll have a good practice on Monday and get ready to play on Tuesday."

The postseason begins at the SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover, Ala. The Gators received the No. 6 seed and will take on 11th-seeded Kentucky (29-22) at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the single-elimination round of the 12-team tourney. Florida won the series at Kentucky earlier this month, 2-1.

 The winner plays three-seed Mississippi State (40-13), which is ranked No. 8 nationally, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday when the tourney turns into the double-elimination portion. The first five of the six days of the tourney will be covered by the SEC Network.

The Gators hope the results in Hoover produce a top eight national seed for the NCAA Tournament, whose field will be announced May 31. The final 16 regional sites, of which Florida Ballpark is a candidate, will be announced May 30.

No. 4 Florida captured its eighth SEC softball series Saturday with a 4-0 win over Texas A&M at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. UF is the only program to have won all eight of its SEC series this season.

The Gators (39-8, 18-5 SEC) picked up a complete-game from senior pitcher Natalie Lugo (14-2). Lugo's complete game to defeat the Aggies (31-19, 8-15) was her second against an SEC opponent.

The West Covina, Calif. went the distance for the fourth time this season and allowed only four hits and one walk, while she also had four strikeouts.

Lugo received support from the offense in the form of a trio of home runs from Charla Echols, Cheyenne Lindsey and Hannah Adams.

Echols followed up her walk-off three-run home run with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to open the scoring. She drove home Kendyl Lindaman, who reached in the previous at-bat via a walk.

Florida went on to get insurance runs in the form of back-to-back solo homers from Lindsey and Adams with two outs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Gators and the Aggies will close out the series Sunday at 12 p.m. on the SEC Network. With one game remaining in SEC play, the Gators are in search of a share of the league regular season championship, the program's ninth overall, with Arkansas.

This was a gratifying win. With two outs and two strikes in the top of the ninth, KY fans standing, cheering, we get a base hit to tie it up. Then, a home run to top off the inning. 

You could hear ancient echos of Mic yelling, "Doering's got a touchdown!"

Florida scores four runs in ninth to down Kentucky 8-5

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Down to its final strike and trailing Kentucky 5-4 in the top of the ninth inning Friday, Florida was in need of a hero. The No. 10 Gators found two.

Cory Acton hit a game-tying RBI single and Kendrick Calilao followed with a three-run home run to pull the Gators out of the jaws of defeat for an 8-5 win. 

Florida improved to 32-14 overall and 14-9 in the SEC, while Kentucky, which won the series-opener 7-5 on Thursday, dropped to 27-16, 11-12. 

The rubber game of the series is set for a 2 p.m. Saturday (stream on SEC Network +), with Florida pitching lefty Hunter Barco (7-2) vs. UK righty Zack Lee (4-4).

Facing the series defeat, the Gators mounted the rally with two outs and one on base in the ninth. Kris Armstrong singled to advance Jacob Young, who had walked. Halter, pinch hitting for Jordan Carrion, got the count to 3-2 before lacing a single to drive in Young. Calilao followed with his home run.

 "I'm really, really happy for those guys," UF coach Kevin O'Sullivan said. "It's one of those games that comes down to the last strike, and we kept hanging in there.

"We made a bunch of mistakes again, but hopefully we're going to get through this. I keep saying it, but hopefully a win like this can help us play a little bit better on the road."

Kentucky jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on Cam Hill's two-run single.

Fabian followed in the third with a two-run home run to deadlock the game at 2-all. He put the Gators up 3-2 with a solo home run in the fifth.

The Wildcats retook the lead with two runs in the fifth. 

Then after a 15-minute rain delay following the seventh inning, UF tied the game at 4-4 in the eighth when Kirby McMullen doubled and scored on a single by Calilao.

Not to be outdone, Kentucky went up 5-4 in the home half of the eighth thanks to misplays by the Gators. A single, balk, groundout, error and RBI grounder put the Wildcats in front.

"Nine of our 14 losses this year, they've basically been gift-wrapped," O'Sullivan said. "We just beaten ourselves, and that's the frustrating part. I'm hoping, we'll see if a win like this can get this team moving even more in the positive direction, but we've just got to learn to play cleaner on the road. It's as simple as that."

Florida starter Tommy Mace struck out nine in seven innings, and Christian Scott (3-3) picked up the win out of the bullpen. Jack Leftwich shut Kentucky down in the ninth to earn his third save of the season.

Notes: McMullen extended his career-best hitting streak to 13, also the longest by a Gator this year. ... Fabian hit his 17th and 18th home runs, moving into the SEC lead. It marked Fabian's second consecutive weekend with a multi-homer game. He has four career two-home run games, three of those this season. ... Calilao's four RBIs marked his personal best in SEC play.
