Florida's obvious strength this season is on defense, and that is reflected in the Associated Press All-SEC team that was released Monday afternoon.

Of the five Gators on the AP team, three are defensive players, led by sophomore cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III, and the other two are specialists. No UF offensive players made the team.

Hargreaves is the only Gator on the first team. He is one of the nation's elite cover cornerbacks and a strong All-America candidate. Hargreaves intercepted two passes and broke up 13 passes this season. Teams had a tendency to avoid throwing in his direction.

The other two UF defensive players on the team are junior linebacker Antonio Morrison, who is on the second team, and junior outside linebacker/end Dante Fowler Jr., an honorable mention.

Punter Kyle Christy is on the second team, while kick returner Andre Debose made honorable mention.

Morrison had a huge season. He led the Gators in tackles with 98 and had six tackles for losses.

Fowler was one of the SEC's dominant defensive players, but did not have a big sack total with only 5.5. He did, however, have 15 quarterback hurries and was a consistent disruptive source. Fowler has already announced that he is leaving school early to enter the NFL draft.

Christy rebounded big from a slump-ridden 2013 season to average 44.4 yards a punt. Debose averaged 14.0 yards a punt return with one touchdown and 24.7 yards per kickoff return.

The offensive player of the year is Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper, while the defensive player of the year is Missouri defensive end Shane Ray. Nick Chubb is the freshman of the year and Mississippi State's Dan Mullen is the coach of the year.

The coaches' All-SEC team will be released later this week.
