Interesting - because ticket selling does definitely happen on campus.  We've done it as recently as last year - of course we were selling two tickets to the Ga Southern game for $10 for the pair because it was pretty hard to get rid of them.  I'm sure the buyers felt they got a great deal, but in reflection, we scalped them.

I was surprised to learn that you cannot sell your tickets on campus.  I must confess that I used to be a serial offender.  I frequently sold my extra tickets  (always for face value) as I was walking to the stadium.  I have no idea why this is illegal as long as the tickets are sold at face value or at a discount.

A Gainesville man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of making and selling fake tickets to Saturday's University of Florida football game and told police he also made them for the recent Luke Bryan concert in Archer.

Jordan Joseph Peters, 24, was arrested after a suspicious ticket-buyer alerted police and undercover officers arranged to buy tickets themselves, according to the Gainesville Police Department.

"He said that he found some sort of template online and just started plugging the information in and doing it," said GPD spokesman Officer Ben Tobias. "Indications are that he may have done this for the Luke Bryan concert, but we haven't had any victims come forward. He told us it went well there, so he thought he'd try it for the UF game."

GPD was called late Tuesday afternoon by a person who had bought computer-printed tickets from Peters after seeing an advertisement on Craigslist. Afterward, the buyer became suspicious and contacted the University Athletic Association ticket office, Tobias said.

The buyer, using a different phone, called Peters about buying tickets and was provided copies of the same seats in a text message, police said.

Undercover GPD officers then called Peters to buy tickets, Tobias reported. When they met Peters, he had 26 additional copies of the tickets in his backpack. All bore the name "Richard Ronson" and were for Section 19, Row 51, Seat 2 or 6.

Peters was charged with grand theft, scheme to defraud and fraudulent creation or possession of tickets. All are felonies.

GPD urges anyone who bought tickets from him with those seat numbers to call Detective Juan DeCastro at 393-7665.

In general, people with legitimate tickets can resell them off campus. However, UF Police Maj. Brad Barber said it is illegal to resell a ticket on the property at which the event is being held -- so tickets cannot be resold on campus.
