I don't know about all the drops being the WRs fault (if it's a TE, yes - our existing tight ends have hands like feet). I've read a number of reports/discussions that the receivers catch passes from Leak a lot (he is the WR coach, after all) and supposedly the WRs have spoken about how he throws a catchable ball. Driskel throws a rocket, and not often accurately. The word is Harris, like Leak, throws a catchable ball.Driskel has a tendency to throw into double (and triple) coverage, lock on his receivers, and he is inaccurate - thus, many turnovers. We don't know if Harris will be better at keeping the ball safe, but it's time to give him a try.
There have been "drops" (as per Jesse Palmer on these last two broadcasts) that were totally on Driskel, and they outnumber the legitimate drops (Quinton Dunbar, no more passes for you). Driskel had moments where he looked like maybe he wasn't so bad (a few of the runs, although he still managed to not wait on his blocker a couple of times) and that beautiful 73-yd pass to Robinson. Harris (based on our small game sample size, and the two years of HS playoff football I watched with him at the helm) appears to be more comfortable throwing on the run and more accurate. He also is more elusive and uses his blockers when running.
As for the defense, if I see one more of those busted coverages, I might just lose my mind. 41 yard pass on 3rd-and-24?!? Argggggh.--On Mon, Oct 13, 2014 at 3:55 PM, Oliver Barry <oliver@bobparks.com> wrote:--I just have to say, Harris is not the answer for this anemic offense.
Driskel isn't either, but the answer is in every WR running his routes correctly and catching a football once in a while.
It is in the quarterback throwing better, be it Driskel or Harris.
It is in the defensive secondary never, ever letting someone get behind them again.
If the team does these things, I could go out there and be quarterback.
Just don't ask me to throw it farther than 4 yards.

No, if I wanted to sound like that Dawg, I would say I need to watch the film and have competition in practice this week. Apparently, he doesn't watch during the game...

Don't worry, it is all correctable.
Of course, the correction is a simple phone call to Dan Mullen, Hugh Frieze, Ruffin McNeil, Dan Dorn, Rich Rodriguez....

POSS-UHHH-BLEEEE? POSS-UHHH-BLEEEE?
If Driskel plays any more at all, IMHO, Muschamp must WANT to lose his job.

Re: [gatortalk] Poss-uh-blee?
This is along the lines of what I've been thinking lately. Even Dunbar... in that pass he dropped just past the line of scrimmage in the UT game that hit him right in the numbers... did you see how hard Jeff threw that ball? His receiver was 10 yards away and it was a missile. It bounced off Dunbar's chest hard; he probably had a bruised sternum. Sure, he should have caught it anyway, but still, would a QB with a better touch have completed that pass?
Even the dropped TD pass by Westbrook this week. It was fast and flat, and we all know our TEs can't catch. Given that no one was near Westbrook, how about letting it arc up a little so it can drop down to him, and he has time to see it coming? Sure, he should have caught it anyway, but still...
I have also noticed that, mostly, Jeff's receivers have to stop to catch his balls (when they do catch them). In three of Harris' four completed passes, the receiver caught the ball in stride without having to stop or slow down. We definitely haven't seen enough to really evaluate the kid, but what I have seen makes me hopeful. I don't believe for a moment that a single player cannot affect his whole team (see Tebow), and while we don't know whether Harris can be that type of player over a whole game, I would like to find out. Hopefully, he'll keep his pants on this week and we'll get to see what he can do with some real playing time.
