Charlie, no one comes out of a fire "smelling like a rose". I'm assuming you are being rhetorical. I admit I derive twisted enjoyment in watching people (euphemistically) slash their wrists on internet message boards after their team fails. I even enjoy it when Gator fans are at it... like since Saturday at about noon. :-) I am also as guilty as anyone of gnashing my teeth and yelling during and after the Vandy game. Then I got a good night's sleep, and started reading interesting things on Sunday and Monday. Some of the most interesting articles and posts discussed recruiting in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. I don't blame CWM for the 2011 class, because transition classes are usually iffy, but Urb's last two classes... oy. Now, I agree that we have legitimate questions about the Gator offense, and the lack of development of offensive personnel. I also think that the players that commit stupid personal fouls need to warm the bench more (admittedly an issue when you have depth concerns). But, the Gators' offensive players are just not that good. I was listening to WRUF this afternoon, and Doug Johnson (on the Larry Vettel show) said that he wouldn't trade a single person on his last team with anyone on the 2013 offense. That's pretty telling. Also, how many of our offensive players have been drafted by the NFL in Muschamp's tenure? How many do you see getting drafted this year? I think we have had a perfect storm, this year, of injuries at positions we could not absorb. Easley's loss was way more devastating than anyone wanted to believe, because he was a team leader. Even more importantly, we could not afford to lose so many offensive line starters. I found it funny to listen to people call in to Steve Russell's and Larry Vettel's shows and talk about how understandable it is that Gator basketball lost at Wisconsin last night, because so may players are out due to injury and/or suspension. Double standard, anyone? I don't know what to think about the offense, but I don't recall many people griping about the hiring of Weis or Pease at the time. Hindsight, though, is too illuminating. We have issues, clearly, and I do not believe that a lack of talent is solely to blame for our offensive ineptitude. Still, I am not willing to lay the blame for everything at the feet of CWM. I may be foolish, but I think Foley is more concerned about the long-term future of the football program than he is about his ego. I think CWM deserves more time to right the ship. Now, if no changes are made in the offense in the next three games, I'll be back to blather about all this again... Mary On Wed, Nov 13, 2013 at 9:00 PM, C.Simpson <ces1948@gmail.com> wrote:
