Re: [gatortalk] Will Mizzou be Muschamps Waterloo?

Yes... he was on the staff... so was the water boy. Doesn't mean he understands play calling and game flow. Sure, we all hope he does... we don't want to be taken for fools, but clearly there is an issue w him or with Muschamp dialing it back.

I think we have the wrong kind of QBs and the staff doesnt fully trust them. Kellen Moore was not a dual threat. He was a cerebral pocket passer. He was immensely successful in that system. Maybe the staff realizes we dont have a round peg for the round hole so they intentionally dial it back...

We are grossly predictable as has been detailed here in previous posts. The best part of Boise's offense was its unpredictablness. Just ask Oklahoma...

Scott, he was part of that staff for four years. I doubt he didnt play a large part of that offensive success. Plus now Pease (and granted Harsin) are gone and BSU isnt near as significant as they once were.

Here is a statistical anomaly from Saturday.  First down rushing plays
averaged 4.5 yards per play, first down passing plays averaged 2.5 yards per
play.  Guess we should have run the ball on first down 100% of the time. ;-)
Yes, we are predictable.  Now my question is this, Pease's offense at BSU
was significantly more dynamic that what we have now, so has Pease gone
brain dead (doubt it), the quality of SEC defenses (maybe), or has Muschamp
put the clamps down on play selection (my personal favorite).  If I am
correct then everyone needs to layoff the Pease complaints because his hands
are obviously tied.  BTW, if this continues for an extended period of time,
they will not have to fire Pease, he will resign eventually to protect
whatever is left of his reputation.

IMO, the OL while not being dominate would be much better if the defense
didn't know what was coming before the ball was snapped.

When you run 77% of the time on 1st down, then base 2nd down on what you
gained 1st down your OL is constantly battling 8-9 man fronts or blitzes on
obvious passing plays.

I agree with your evaluation. But---a big but---You cannot be successful
against the upper tier without a solid o-line and we certainly don't have
one for any number of reasons. That is critical to running and passing. I
know, I'm talking to the hand.

I gotta agree, Muschamp is not close to being Zook....and I supported Zook
for the most part, you always had the feeling, at least I did, that we were
a walking time bomb with Zook, chaos was just around the corner. Frat Party
fights, etc.....

Muschamp for the most part is running a solid program, he inherited a real
mess from Urban Meyer, he's cleaned that up and probably cost himself a win
or two in the process.

But he does have ONE HUGE glaring weakness, OFFENSE....there is a small
chance he gets fired if the team loses Saturday then proceeds to lose to
UGA, USC and FSU...and finish 6-6..I don't think that happens but it's not
impossible.

Once the season is over, simply stated, changes have to be made, you can't
win against top SEC teams consistently without a passing game that is
respected by the other team and you can't win running the ball on 1st down
77% of the time....

Remember this is his 3rd year and not ONE WR he's recruited is playing a
significant role on offense. It's inconceivable to me in 3 years we don't
have one Florida HS player who has come in and made an impact at WR.....

If we win Saturday and Kelvin Taylor has 22 carries for 150 yards and 2 TDs,
we will all be elated, but will also be asking, why took so long to play
him....

Somehow/Someway we have to get Robinson and Fulwood some catches at WR and
get them more involved in the offense....

I don't have an issue with the ground/pound offensive system, but you have
to develop a vertical passing game that other teams respect....

If we get to 8-4 or 9-3 this year and hold the recruiting class together,
then next year we should be solid.....

Murphy and Driskel at QB, with Grier as the understudy.

Kelvin Taylor will be a year older and we add Ermon Lane and Dalvin Cook to
the skill positions, which bodes well for the future.

Not even close to bring Zook.
