Subject: [gatortalk] My plans have been thwarted
And I blame Oliver.
Had a wonderful Saturday last weekend and enjoyed the gracious hospitality of Leon and Paula, thank you again. I was trying to send in game reports, but for some reason I couldn't get data service in the stadium. After returning to Winter Park and fighting with Brighthouse all week to get a cable modem replaced, I am finally back online.
A few comments on the game last week:
- impressed by the crowd. I had seats in the shade and it was hot, can't imagine what it was like in the sun. Contrary to Mike Bianchi's thoughts, it was a good, loud crowd and really didnt start to clear out until after We are the Boys.
- Toledo was a good team and the game could have been a lot closer than the outcome. Yes Florida left some points on the field, but so did Toledo.
- of particular concern was our cornerbacks, they were beat by a step or two on several occasions. Fortunately, the Toledo QB wasn't very accurate. Of course some of his in accuracy was caused by the D line pressure, but we will see some QBs this year that will make those throws.
- while we still didnt get great pressure with our front 4, we mixed up a lot of different looks and very time we blitzed, it worked very well.
- Driscoll still concerns me. He has no anticipation of when a WR will be open and checks down too soon. Saw several times a WR breaking open across the middle and we dump off to the safety check running towards the sideline...
- While he played against Pitt, you could see Winston from F$U has it, made great throws and knew when his receivers would be open before they actually were.
All in all a great time, the good guys won and the coaches got a lot of film to help coach EM up for the next game.
As for the next game, it seems all my potential travel partners have mysteriously disappeared, my promised game tickets have evaporated and there is a van with dark tinted windows parked across the street. All of that coupled with lack helicopters circling overhead are pointing toward a me watching the game on TV tomorrow, damn you Oliver!
BTW, the bat house is really easy to find...
